I was born in the West Midlands and as a small child made annual visits to London. From that early age, I was fascinated with the place and have been ever since! My first career choice was chemistry. For many years I worked as a research scientist, specialising in Environmental Analytical Chemistry. I received the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Distinguished Service Award.
A complete career change beckoned and I trained for the coveted Blue Badge in 1996 and have never looked back. As well as guiding, I have written five books including “By Way Travels South of London” (Sigma 1993); the award winning “The Story of Bankside” (co-authored with Len Reilly) (Southwark Council,2001); “London’s Docklands – An Illustrated Guide”, (History Press,2008); Walsall - An Illustrated History, (History Press,2008) and London's Industrial Heritage, (History Press, 2013).
I am a member of the Institute of Tourist Guiding, the Association of Professional Tour Guides and the Guild of Registered Tour Guides.
My interests are listening to jazz, watching football, reading and local history. I am always happy to tailor tours to your specification and enjoy the challenge of something different.
I would be delighted to share my love of London with you.
